Is-Segretarju Parlamentari għall-Protezzjoni tal-Konsumatur u Valletta 2018 Deo Debattista nieda Valletta 2018 fil-Kapitali Griega flimkien maċ-Chairman tal-Fondazzjoni Valletta 2018 Jason Micallef, iċ-Chairman tal-Kunsill Malti għall-Arti Albert Marshall, u l-Eċċellenza Tiegħu l-Ambaxxatur Malti għall-Greċja, Joseph Cuschieri.

It-tnedija laħqet il-qofol tagħha b’kunċert kollaborattiv bejn is-Soċjetà Mużikali Madonna tal-Karmnu tal-Balluta, u baned lokali Griegi fil-Pjazza Kotzias f’Ateni, li għalih kien hemm preżenti il-Ministru Griega għall-Kultura u Sports, Lydia Koniordu, u s-Sindku ta’ Ateni Girgios Kaminis

“Irridu nużaw l-opportunità preżenti biex niżguraw li l-Kapitali Ewropea tal-Kultura ma tibqax sempliċiment kunċett Ewropew, iżda kisba iktar wiesa’ minħabba l-fatt li qed ngħixu f’villaġġ globali”, qal Debattista.

Saru ukoll diskussjonijiet bilaterali bejn id-Delegazzjoni Maltija, il-Ministeru Grieg għall-Kultura u Sports, u l-Kunsill Lokali ta’ Ateni dwar ir-relazzjoni bejn Malta u l-Greċja, u Elefsina 2021, il-Kapitali Ewropea tal-Kultura Griega, fost oħrajn.

Parliamentary Secretary Deo Debattista launches Valletta 2018 in Athens, Greece

Parliamentary Secretary for Consumer Protection and Valletta 2018 Deo Debattista launched Valletta 2018 in the Greek Capital, along with Valletta 2018 Chairman Jason Micallef, Malta Arts Council Chairman Albert Marshall, and His Excellency the Maltese Ambassador to Greece, Joseph Cuschieri.

The launch reached its peak with a collaborative concert between the Soċjetà Mużikali Madonna tal-Karmnu from Balluta and local Greek band clubs in Kotzias Square in Athens on Monday, for which the Greek Minister for Culture and Sports Lydia Koniordu and Athens Mayor Girgios Kaminis were also present.

“We want and strive to grasp the present opportunity to ensure that the European Capital of Culture will not simply be a limited European concept but an attainable wider achievement the more so since we are living in a global village”, Debattista outlined.

Bilateral discussions were also held between the Maltese Delegation, the Greek Ministry for Culture, and the Athens Local Council on the relationship between Malta and Greece, and Elefsina 2021, the upcoming Greek European Capital of Culture, amongst others.
